Sr. FP&A Analyst

We Are Route

When shoppers hit "buy," a great customer experience doesn’t end, it’s just getting started. For too long, everything after checkout has been the weakest link in ecommerce: confusing tracking, lost or damaged packages, clunky returns, and missed opportunities to turn first-time buyers into lifelong fans. That's why we built Route.

Our mission is simple: we create shopper confidence that fuels brand growth. Route is the leading post-purchase platform for modern ecommerce, trusted by thousands of brands and protecting more than $20 billion in gross merchandise value to date. From package protection and industry-leading order tracking to returns and exchanges, cash back loyalty, and engaging product recommendations, Route brings every moment after checkout into one powerful platform, empowering shoppers with visibility and peace of mind while giving merchants loyalty that lasts well beyond the first sale.

Since launching in 2018, Route has raised over $250 million from leading investors including Craft Ventures, Hedosophia, and Hanaco Ventures, and has grown into a complete post-purchase ecosystem loved by millions of shoppers and the brands they buy from. Throughout that growth, we've stayed committed to building innovative products that empower our customers and to fostering a people-first, values-driven culture that makes Route a place where great work and great people thrive.

We're looking for talented people across the ecommerce space to join us on the next chapter of this adventure. Don't just take our word for it, Discover what life at Route has to offer.

The team

We are a lean, high-impact, Finance team that punches above our weight class. In a company of 130 people driving $130M in revenue, we don’t have room for "order takers." We are strategic partners to every functional department, from Sales to Product to Engineering. We value automation over manual entry, insights over data, and critical thinking. You’ll report directly to the VP of Finance and work in an environment where your work is visible to the entire leadership team on day one.

The opportunity

As our key Senior Financial Analyst (FP&A), you will be the primary engine behind our financial planning and operational analysis. This is a high-visibility role in a fast-paced ecommerce environment where the unit economics are complex and the data is plentiful. You won’t just be reporting on what happened last month; you will be building the models that dictate what we do next year. If you are looking for a role where you can own the entire P&L and influence the trajectory of a high-tech, private company, this is it. This position will engage cross functionally to influence decision making across multiple departments and disciplines, as well as be responsible for up-leveling and developing the FP&A organization as a whole. This is a unique opportunity to join a cutting edge company that will challenge you from day one to be the best you can be.

What you’ll do

• Operational Partnership: Act as the dedicated finance partner for department leads and business partners broadly across the organization, imparting financial intelligence to drive cost efficiency gains and manage their spend envelope.
• Process Evolution: Act as the catalyst to mature and grow our FP&A muscle. Identify and implement tools to automate repetitive reporting, moving us toward a more real-time "Continuous Accounting" environment.

The Backbone: Own, manage, and administer our internal financial reporting, modeling, and forecasting tools which provide the scaffolding over which our financial insights and reporting are communicated.

• The Blueprint: Help facilitate the annual budgeting process and monthly rolling forecasts, ensuring alignment between departmental spend and our long-term strategic goals.
• Financial Intelligence: Dig into our data, analyzing key financial performance indicators (customer profitability, CAC, LTV, retention, etc). Translate, interpret, and communicate the key takeaways behind massive datasets into narratives that tell the story behind the numbers.
• Strategic Modeling: Build complex, dynamic financial models to evaluate new market entries, product launches, and capital allocation strategies.

What we’re looking for

• At least 4+ years of experience in FP&A, Investment Banking, or Strategic Finance. Experience in Ecommerce or SaaS is a significant plus.
• Technical Prowess: You have strong modeling skills and have experience with FP&A platforms (Adaptive, Analplan), BI tools (Tableau, Looker) and ERP systems (Netsuite, Sage Intacct).
• The Builder Mindset: You don’t need a manual to get started. You enjoy building models from scratch and refining messy data into clean structures. We move fast and iterate to progressively improve over time.
• Communication Skills: You can explain the "why" behind a budget variance as well as the implications to our financial outlook as well as identify operational gaps in processes, policies, and procedures inside and outside of finance.
• Systems Architect: You have a proven track record of owning and administering financial forecasting software (e.g., Adaptive, Vena, Mosaic, or Jirav). You aren’t just a user; you are the lead architect responsible for maintaining data integrity, building out new modules, and evolving our financial models to scale with the business.
• High Velocity: You thrive in a "high tech" pace where priorities can shift, and you have the discipline to manage multiple projects without dropping the ball.
• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
