Midjourney is an independent research lab exploring new mediums of thought and expanding the imaginative powers of the human species. We are a small, self-funded team focused on design, human infrastructure, and AI.

Most of the problems we work on don't have obvious solutions. Our product team works closely with research, design, and engineering to figure them out. We're looking for a Product Lead to lead that effort.

You'll partner closely with our Chief Design Officer to shape the future of Midjourney's products while building and leading the product management team.

This isn't a traditional management role. We expect you to spend meaningful time working through product direction, talking to users, reviewing prototypes, designing experiments, and leading important projects yourself. Some weeks you'll be coaching product managers. Other weeks you'll disappear into a hard problem until you understand it well enough to help everyone else move forward. What you'll do

• Work closely with the Chief Design Officer to shape the direction of Midjourney's products.

• Recruit, mentor, and lead the product management team.

• Stay close to the work by leading the most important and ambiguous product initiatives yourself.

• Go deep on difficult problems—whether that's talking to users, designing an experiment, analyzing results, defining product direction, or helping a team navigate a critical decision.

• Partner closely with design, engineering, and research to bring new ideas into the world.

• Establish product reviews, planning rhythms, and decision-making processes that help the team do its best work.

You might be a fit if

• You've spent the last decade building software people love to use.

• You've led product teams, but you still enjoy owning important projects yourself.

• You enjoy working across disciplines and know how to bring designers, engineers, and analysts together around a problem.

• Using Claude Code and Cursor are part of your workflow.

• You're as comfortable talking to users and reviewing experiments as you are thinking through long-term product strategy.

• You're excited by products that require inventing new ways for people to interact with technology.

Logistics

• Full-time. San Francisco Hybrid.

• Compensation: $275,000–$350,000 + benefits
